Staff Accountant

We're hiring a Staff Accountant to own a portfolio of small business clients on the Client Accounting Services team. You'll take each client's monthly close from bank feed to finished financial statements, and you'll be the person they call with a QuickBooks question.

Work location and hours

Georgia residents may work remotely, in a hybrid role, or from our Dunwoody or Cumming offices. SDA provides the computer, webcam, and other equipment you need to do the job. Remote work requires reliable high-speed internet, a quiet workspace, and availability during SDA business hours. This is a full-time Monday–Friday role with a flexible schedule and a start time no later than 10:00 AM. Overtime is rare.

$25 per hour guaranteed base, plus a monthly production incentive. We walk through the full plan in the interview.

80 hours of PTO per year from day one, 8 paid holidays, and a 401(k) with employer match available after 180 days.

What success looks like

Within 12 months, you manage 40–50 monthly clients and hit our production schedule: 35% complete by day 14, 67% by day 21, 100% by day 28. Work sent back to you for errors stays at 10% or less. You complete each client's books to a full draft, then bring your manager specific exceptions with your proposed treatment.

How we hire

Apply with your resume, then complete the DISC assessment and screening questions to be considered. Finalists complete a Kolbe A Index and a paid two-day working trial in QuickBooks Online. This is a W-2 employee position, not contract work.

$25 per hour

• Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts and complete month-end entries (payroll, depreciation, prepaids) for every client on your list
• Prepare complete monthly financial statements and submit them for manager review
• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns
• Serve as your clients' day-to-day contact for bookkeeping and QuickBooks Online questions
• Complete catch-up (backwork) projects and set up new client files following the SDA Way onboarding process
• Process bills and invoices for clients who use our bill pay service, and keep your work current in ClickUp
• Use AI tools and automation to speed up routine work, such as categorizing transactions and preparing client questions, and always review the output before it goes to a client

• 3+ years preparing monthly books and financial statements for multiple clients or separate entities at a CPA firm, bookkeeping firm, virtual bookkeeping service, or multi-entity business. You personally prepared each client's books through a complete draft.
• Daily QuickBooks Online use for reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements. QBO ProAdvisor certification (Levels 1 and 2) within 90 days of hire.
• Strong written and verbal communication with small business owners
• Comfortable with technology and willing to use AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT in your daily work, following SDA's rules for protecting client information. No prior AI experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to learn.
• Georgia resident authorized to work in the United States
• Strongly preferred: experience preparing and filing sales tax returns, and an associate or bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
