Construction Manager Alpharetta, GA | Full Time | Experienced Onsite with Occasional Travel Position Summary Velox is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead field operations for a telecom utility construction project based in Alpharetta, Georgia, with the potential to expand oversight to additional projects throughout the state. This role oversees Field Supervisors, field technicians, and subcontractors and is responsible for ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer requirements and Velox standards. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of aerial, underground, and fiber construction, knows how to lead teams across multiple job sites, and takes ownership of production, quality, cost control, and customer communication. This is a field-facing leadership role reporting to the Vice President of Operations. What You'll Do

  • Manage field operations across multiple aerial and underground telecom construction projects, coordinating crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials to meet schedules and production targets.
  • Set clear expectations for Field Supervisors, field technicians, and subcontractors and hold teams accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and follow-through.
  • Monitor daily production, identify performance gaps and obstacles, and implement corrective actions to keep projects moving.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess field conditions, workmanship, crew performance, and compliance with construction plans and customer specifications.
  • Enforce Velox safety policies and OSHA requirements, investigate incidents and near-misses, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation across active job sites and support hiring, onboarding, and performance management in partnership with HR and Operations leadership.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for assigned projects and lead or participate in customer meetings.
  • Communicate project progress, emerging risks, schedule impacts, and resource needs clearly and consistently to leadership and internal teams.
  • Ensure daily reports, change orders, redlines, and material tracking records are accurate and complete.
  • Monitor labor, equipment, and material costs against project budgets and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and project margins.
  • Review and approve timecards, subcontractor invoices, and billing promptly and partner with Finance on accurate cost tracking and reporting.
  • Resolve field challenges and escalate issues proactively to prevent avoidable delays, cost overruns, or customer concerns. What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in telecom utility construction or related infrastructure work.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience managing field crews and/or subcontractors.
  • Strong working knowledge of aerial, underground, and fiber construction methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, utility plans, maps, and field specifications.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and job sites across a region.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to set expectations and hold teams accountable.
  • Familiarity with project tracking tools, field reporting systems, and production management software preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; ability to pass required background and drug screening.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned region, including overnight stays, and work extended hours, nights, or weekends when project needs require. Physical & Work Requirements This position is field-based in Alpharetta, GA, and may evolve to a hybrid arrangement as statewide oversight expands. Travel, overnight stays, and extended hours may be required. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather, stand and walk for extended periods, navigate active construction sites safely, and lift up to 20 pounds.
