Position Overview Our client, an established and growing orthopedic and spine practice in the Atlanta area, is seeking an experienced Clinical Director to oversee clinical excellence at its Chamblee location. This is primarily a clinical leadership position rather than a production-based provider role. The Clinical Director will be responsible for ensuring that patients receive consistent, high-quality orthopedic care while developing and supporting a team of Physician Assistants (PAs), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and other clinical professionals. Working closely with orthopedic physicians, surgeons, and operational leadership, this individual will oversee clinical decision-making, provider performance, documentation standards, patient flow, and adherence to established clinical protocols. The ideal candidate is an experienced orthopedic clinician who enjoys mentoring others, improving processes, and creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Clinical Quality & Patient Care

  • Oversee the quality and consistency of orthopedic patient evaluations, diagnoses, treatment plans, imaging decisions, referrals, and follow-up care.
  • Ensure providers adhere to established clinical protocols and evidence-based orthopedic treatment standards.
  • Serve as the primary clinical resource for advanced practice providers managing complex or challenging patient cases.
  • Partner with orthopedic physicians and surgeons to ensure appropriate escalation of significant medical decisions.
  • Identify variations in clinical care and implement improvements to strengthen patient outcomes. Clinical Documentation & Compliance
  • Establish and maintain high standards for accurate, complete, and timely medical documentation.
  • Promote efficient documentation practices, with a goal of completing notes shortly after patient encounters and ensuring all documentation is finalized within 72 hours.
  • Conduct routine documentation reviews to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Coach providers on documentation accuracy, clinical clarity, and compliance with established standards.
  • Leverage electronic health records, including NextGen, and AI-enabled documentation tools to improve efficiency and consistency. Provider Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of PAs, NPs, orthopedic physician assistants, and clinical support professionals.
  • Provide regular coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Identify areas where individual providers need additional training or clinical support.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable to clinical standards.
  • Foster a collaborative culture focused on continuous learning, professional growth, and exceptional patient care. Daily Clinical Leadership
  • Participate in daily 7:30 a.m. clinical leadership meetings with physicians, surgeons, and other clinical leaders.
  • Review challenging patient cases, clinical outcomes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Share clinical best practices and communicate important updates to the local provider team.
  • Ensure lessons learned from physician collaboration are incorporated into daily clinical practice.
  • Maintain consistent communication between providers, physicians, and operational leadership. Clinic Operations & Performance
  • Collaborate with operational leadership to optimize patient flow, clinical efficiency, and the overall patient experience.
  • Identify and resolve clinical workflow bottlenecks and recurring operational challenges.
  • Monitor provider performance, documentation quality, and adherence to established clinical standards.
  • Support initiatives designed to improve care coordination and consistency.
  • Help maintain an efficient, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment. Qualifications Required Qualifications
  • Active Georgia Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensure.
  • Significant hands-on clinical experience in orthopedics.
  • Strong musculoskeletal assessment, diagnostic, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of orthopedic treatment pathways and appropriate physician or surgical referrals.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop clinical professionals.
  • Excellent medical documentation skills and attention to clinical detail.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to establish expectations, provide constructive feedback, and hold providers accountable.
  • Comfortable working in a structured, quality-focused, and performance-oriented clinical environment. Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of clinical experience, including substantial orthopedic experience.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience involving PAs, NPs, or other clinical professionals.
  • Experience collaborating directly with orthopedic surgeons.
  • Background in clinical documentation reviews, audits, or quality assurance.
  • Experience developing or implementing standardized clinical protocols.
  • Familiarity with NextGen electronic health records.
  • Experience using ambient AI documentation tools or similar clinical technology. What Success Looks Like The successful Clinical Director will establish a clinical environment
where
  • Patients consistently receive high-quality, standardized orthopedic care.
  • Advanced practice providers demonstrate sound clinical judgment and appropriate physician collaboration.
  • Clinical documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted within established timeframes.
  • Providers receive ongoing coaching and demonstrate measurable professional improvement.
  • Complex patient cases are identified early and escalated appropriately.
  • Clinical workflows support efficient operations and an excellent patient experience.
  • Physicians and surgeons have confidence in the quality and consistency of the clinical team. Why Consider This Opportunity? This position offers an opportunity for an experienced orthopedic PA or NP to transition into or advance within a meaningful clinical leadership role, with a base salary starting at $200,000+ depending on experience.
