Staff Financial Group is seeking an experienced Controller to lead all accounting operations and financial reporting for the organization. This is a high-impact role with a clear path to Chief Financial Officer—the company is actively planning for succession and looking for a financial leader ready to grow into that position. You'll manage the accounting function end-to-end while serving as a strategic partner to senior executives on financial decisions that shape the business.
What you'll own
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, and financial statement preparation in compliance with US GAAP.
- Lead external audit activities, coordinate with independent auditors, and maintain a strong internal control environment.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, accounting policies, and reporting requirements.
- Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team while building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Partner with executive leadership on financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic business decisions.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, financial systems, and reporting efficiencies, and oversee cash flow management and working capital analysis.
What we're looking for
- You have an active CPA license.
- You have 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including a combination of public accounting and private industry experience.
- You have a strong audit background with hands-on experience in financial statement audits, audit processes, and internal controls.
- You've held a Controller, Corporate Controller, or comparable senior accounting leadership position and can balance detailed technical accounting work with strategic financial leadership.
- You have exceptional knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting, with proven success managing external audit relationships and addressing complex accounting matters.
- You bring strong financial planning, budgeting, and analytical capabilities, plus excellent communication and executive presentation skills.
What's in it for you
- Competitive base salary of $185,000–$225,000 plus performance-based bonus and additional incentives.
- A clear succession plan and genuine opportunity to advance into the Chief Financial Officer role as the organization grows.
- Direct exposure to senior leadership and the chance to influence strategic financial and business decisions.
