Property Accountant – Commercial Real Estate

Role Description The Property Accountant – Commercial Real Estate is a full-time, on-site role based in Atlanta, GA. This role is responsible for the day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties, including preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements, maintaining general ledgers, and processing journal entries. The Property Accountant will manage accounts payable and receivable, reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts, and assist with CAM (common area maintenance) reconciliations, budgets, and forecasts. The role includes reviewing leases for billing accuracy, supporting year-end audits and tax requests, and responding to property management and ownership inquiries. The Property Accountant will collaborate closely with asset management, leasing, and property management teams to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and support informed decision-making. Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements and reports
• Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations
• Record journal entries and support month-end and year end close
• Review tenant billings, CAM charges, and rent activity
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Work closely with property managers on financial performance
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation Qualifications
• Strong core accounting foundation, including Accounting, Finance, and understanding of GAAP principles.
• Proficiency in preparing and analyzing Financial Statements and supporting schedules for multiple properties.
• Hands-on experience with Journal Entries (Accounting), general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations.
• Experience with Financial Reporting, including monthly close processes, variance analysis, and budget-to-actual reviews.
• Proficiency with accounting software and MS Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs); experience with real estate or property management systems is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines across a property portfolio.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with property management, leasing, and ownership teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; prior commercial real estate or property accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work on-site in Atlanta, GA, maintaining a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. Benefits
