Automotive Controller – Confidential retail group in Miami, FL

A premier automotive dealership group based in Miami, FL is looking for a seasoned Automotive Controller to join its leadership team. We specialize in delivering outstanding customer experiences and premium luxury vehicle sales and service.

The Automotive Controller will assume complete financial leadership for designated rooftops in our Miami-area dealership operations. This high-level role demands comprehensive expertise in all facets of automotive retail finance — including sales, service, parts, F&I, and manufacturer programs. As a proactive leader, the Controller will safeguard financial accuracy, champion strong internal controls, maintain full OEM compliance, and work in close collaboration with the General Manager to drive business performance.

• Lead and complete the month-end close process within OEM deadlines
• Prepare accurate financial statements in compliance with GAAP and manufacturer reporting requirements
• Review and validate all balance sheet schedules prior to submission
• Ensure accuracy of factory composite reporting

• Perform weekly reviews of all balance sheet schedules
• Reconcile floorplan payable, interest, cash in transit, and clearing accounts
• Oversee contracts in transit, funding schedules, warranty receivables, and factory incentive receivables
• Monitor parts inventory obsolescence reserves, F&I chargebacks, and other reserve accounts
• Proactively eliminate aged or unexplained reconciling items

• Supervise Receivables, Payables, Title Clerks, and Staff Accountants
• Implement and enforce robust internal controls
• Conduct daily reviews of deal postings for accuracy of gross profit, incentives, and product penetration
• Oversee payroll accuracy, including commission calculations
• Monitor departmental expenses and support overall profitability

• Reconcile manufacturer statements monthly and ensure adherence to OEM accounting policies
• Reconcile lender floorplan statements and curtailment schedules
• Prepare documentation for internal and OEM audits

• Demonstrate strong proficiency in Tekion dealership management system
• Utilize advanced Excel skills for analysis and reporting
• Develop and implement KPI dashboards and reporting tools

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in automotive dealership accounting
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role, with prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience strongly preferred
• Proven success in multi-rooftop operations
• Advanced knowledge of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with all organizational levels
• Highly detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
