Description of position:

West Physics has an immediate need for a full-time Accounting Specialist to support the company’s financial operations. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end closing activities, and supporting financial reporting. Required skill sets for this position include but are not limited to excellent interpersonal skills, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects, the ability to work independently as well as part of a project team, the ability to exercise a high degree of responsibility and autonomy (once trained), and the ability to handle sensitive financial information professionally and discreetly. • Process invoices, payments, and expense reports.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Collections of past due invoices as well as achievement of aggressive DSO goals set by the company. These conversations/interactions require a high level of tact & the ability to communicate effectively.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Process and maintain confidential financial records, reports, and documents; plan and protect the security of information, data, and files
• Support budgeting, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.
• Answer customer calls, file maintenance, copying, faxing, data entry, and assisting with office responsibilities as needed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Prerequisites:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
• 2-3 years of professional experience in an accounting or bookkeeping position.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
• Experience with Apple/Macintosh computers preferred.
• Candidate must be willing and open to learn new tools and take on new responsibilities as the role grows.
